Scrapbooking

Cutting out pictures, remembering wonderful events, and putting them into a beautiful display…ahh scrapbooking is such a fun thing. Well, for some. I loved scrapbooking but I have two problems with it- I can’t put it down- once I start something I have to finish it and I’m way too much of a perfectionist! I don’t scrapbook anymore but still use my supplies from time to time and maybe one day when my son is older I can finish my wedding book and start on his book. But, what do I do with everything now?

This kind of works. I like having everything filed but it take up a bunch of room and it doesn’t fit half of my supplies.

This is a nice scrapbooking bag that my mom got me for Christmas… last year. Guess it’s time to put it to use!
First I got out all of my supplies. The cats had to help!

Got rid of stuff I will never use/never work on/ just plain don’t like. You could probably find friends to give them to or try to sell them. I took the lazy road and they met my large brown trash can.

Now, on to organizing this…

The bag has holders for the scissors and markers so that was an easy bonus. I put the books and die cuts in the first section.

But I didn’t want to put all my paper in there knowing it would just be a wrinkled, unorganized mess. So…

I got this little buddy! I had to get one to organize my tax documents so I grabbed an extra. A $4 quick buy at Wal-mart.

The side pocket already houses my sticker collection, which is another expandable file that normally holds receipts. I just cut the sticker sheets to fit in. Label and ta-da!

Yay! So glad it is all in one place where when I have an idea for something I can easily find it. Here are some other scrapbook storage ideas if you have more space and supplies than I do

Makes my heart melt! Hope your scrapbook/paper organization projects go well. Feel free to share!

1st Major Project

Here’s the deal

This blog will not only motivate me to organize but keep me on track too! I was up all night dreaming about what project to start with (yes, I do dream about organizing and no, it’s not a problem…well, maybe). Anyway, I’ll be focusing my energy toward the scary black hole of a guest bedroom. Few reasons to start there; one, last weekend I scrubbed my house top to bottom so it should be on maintenance level for a while. Hopefully. Two, tax time is coming up soon so I need to find a spot in there so I can start going through all that paperwork (ministry taxes are very complex luckily I just need to gather everything to send off to a brave soul who’ll do it for us). Three, Kaden’s birthday is 2 weeks. 2.weeks. (deep breath) so that room needs to be livable, well at the least sleep-able! So here we go!

First thing, I need to figure out what exactly I want from this space. Right now, it’s used as storage. Every few weeks, it’ll host some guests for a weekend but that is really the only time someone has a reason to enter it (except the cats, for some reason, they break into that room everyday and sleep on the bed, only quiet spot in the house?). My work is starting to let me work from home occasionally and hopefully they’ll bump up that to allow me to do that more. When I work at home now, I sit with my husband’s laptop on the couch and do it. Hopefully I’ll be able to hook a second monitor up so I’ll need a space for that but I would rather it not be in this room just in case it needs to become another bedroom someday plus I hate being closed off from everything. We are going to move forward with the room’s main function as a guest bedroom and no longer as office or storage area (although it still with store stuff).

Here is the scheduled plan…
·         Organizing my scrapbooking supplies
·         Organizing desk area
·         The closet (this will be a two part thing)

I think next week will be focused on making the room into a nice place for guests to stay.

So what do you think? Got any guest bedrooms or offices that need tackled?

Coming along...

This blog is finally starting to take shape so I guess I better add some posts so you have a reason to stick around! First, check out the house tour to get an idea of what my house looks like. Now, I'm going to share some of my projects coming up.

First, there's going to be a change coming. One day I looked at Kurt and said, "what do you think of painting the red wall to blue?" (preparing myself for "what do we need to change it!") and surprisingly he said "I like that, like a dark blue? or maybe light?" wow, my designing bug must be getting to him too!

so right now we're with the dark blue but I've been picking up some accessories and I've been seeing a lot of cute light blue stuff so who knows. This time we are planning on not only painting the red wall but keep painting the rest of the wall into the kitchen. We wanted to do that with the red but never got around to it.

Some other major projects:
  • The obvious guest bedroom needs some help!
  • Painting our guest bath (it still has that new house white powder coat of paint)
  • Changing Kaden's room when he decides to move to a big boy bed (could be a while)
  • Organizing my master bedroom closet (it's on the road to recovery but still needs some more help
  • the backyard! It's a blank slate of grass and trees; since we'll be spending all summer outside with Kaden, we'd like to spruce it and make it enjoyable!
All that and more coming soon, like my laundry closet makeover, Kaden's closet makeover, and maybe even some small things... you tell me, what things to you want to know?!

Welcome!

I've spent the last few years reading and enjoying all kinds or organizing blogs so I decided to venture out there and do it myself. So here I am! I guess a quick about me is in order... my name is Kristine. Is that enough? If yes, skip ahead! I live in southern Ohio with my wonderful husband, Kurt and my beautiful almost 2 year old, Kaden. We also have 2 cats, Cheddar and Pepper jack (don't ask, we like cheese apparently). We live in our cute little casa which is perfect for us! We're a ministry family-my husband is a family life minister running youth through adult small groups. I work full time in accounting. My son enjoys destroying things but loves to cuddle!

My idea behind this blog is to document for all of humanity (or whoever reads) my adventures in cleaning, organizing, decorating, and whatever else comes up! I'm not an expert housekeeper or professional organizer; I'm just one willing to let you come along for the ride. I've been experimenting for months and am really excited I can finally get a blog up and running! Plans for next few posts...house tour! I'll let you peek into my home, show you some of my completed projects, and show you some of my upcoming projects around here (I have a permanent decorating bug so nothing ever stays the same here)

Here's hoping I get some readers!
~Kristine
